Is Intermediate Right for You?

This league is more competitive than our recreational offering, with a faster pace and greater emphasis on positioning, quick passing, and coordinated team play. Players should have a working understanding of field hockey rules and be comfortable applying their skills under pressure.

If you’re returning after time away, consider your comfort with the pace and expectations of play. Beginners and players looking for a more relaxed experience are encouraged to explore our recreational league. Contact GameOnVT if you’re unsure which level is the best fit.

What to Expect

Expect an active game where communication, movement off the ball, and teamwork matter. The reduced field keeps players involved and creates frequent opportunities to transition between offense and defense.

Competitive play and good sportsmanship go together. Respect teammates, opponents, and the official, maintain control of your stick, and play safely. Dangerous play, discriminatory behavior, and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.

What to Wear and Bring

• Field hockey stick: Bring your stick for play.
• Shin guards and mouth guard: Both are required for all players.
• Footwear: Turf shoes are recommended, but any clean athletic shoe is acceptable.
• Athletic attire: Wear clothing suitable for running and playing.
• Water: Bring a water bottle.

Get on the turf with GameOnVT’s Adult Indoor Field Hockey Recreational League! Enjoy a slower pace, friendly competition, and a welcoming setting for staying active and connecting with other players. Beginners are welcome, along with returning players and anyone who prefers a more relaxed game. Participation is primarily women, and men are welcome.

Whether you’re trying field hockey for the first time or picking up your stick after years away, this league offers an opportunity to enjoy the sport without the intensity of our intermediate league.

Is Recreational Right for You?

This league is a good fit for newer players, adults returning to the sport, and experienced players who enjoy a less intense pace. The emphasis is on participation, teamwork, and enjoying the game.

Beginners are welcome, but this is a playing league rather than an instructional program. Reviewing basic rules before your first game will help you feel more comfortable getting involved. Contact GameOnVT if you have questions about what to expect.

Experienced players are welcome and expected to support the recreational atmosphere by sharing opportunities, encouraging teammates, and keeping their pace and intensity appropriate for the group.

What to Expect

Expect active games with room to build confidence and enjoy friendly competition. A slower pace still means plenty of movement, passing, and opportunities to contribute on offense and defense.

Respect teammates, opponents, and the official, maintain control of your stick, and play safely. Dangerous play, discriminatory behavior, and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.

What to Wear and Bring
