Description:

Get moving with GameOnVT’s Adult Floor Hockey League! Enjoy fast-paced games, teamwork, and a great cardio workout in a spirited, noncontact setting. Open to players 18 and older of all genders and skill levels. Some hockey experience is helpful, but newcomers are welcome.

Floor hockey brings the passing, shooting, and quick transitions of hockey to a game played in athletic shoes. Whether you’ve played hockey before or want to try something new, come ready to move, work with your teammates, and have fun.

Program Details

  • Ages: Adults 18 and older.
  • Who can play: Players of all genders and skill levels.
  • Level: Semi-competitive; some hockey experience is helpful.
  • Format: Five field players plus a goalie per team.
  • Game length: Two 25-minute halves.
  • Officiating: Games are officiated.
  • Style of play: Noncontact, with a fast pace and frequent transitions.
  • Equipment: GameOnVT provides fiberglass/plastic sticks and a weighted wiffleball-style floor hockey ball. Goalie equipment is available.

What to Expect

Expect plenty of movement as teams transition between offense and defense. Passing, positioning, and communication help everyone stay involved, and the pace makes for an energetic workout.

All skill levels are welcome, though familiarity with hockey will help you settle into the game. Experienced players are expected to include newer teammates and keep competition friendly.

Games use a weighted wiffleball for safety. Players must still maintain control of their sticks and follow the noncontact rules. Respect teammates, opponents, and officials. Dangerous play, discriminatory behavior, and poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.

What to Wear and Bring

  • Clean athletic shoes required: Bring a separate pair to change into before playing, especially during wet, muddy, or snowy weather. Keep outdoor dirt, moisture, and salt off the playing surface.
  • Athletic attire: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for running and active play.
  • Optional protection: Players may wear shin guards and eye protection at their discretion.
  • Water: Bring a water bottle.

Sticks and balls are provided, and goalie equipment is available for players taking a turn in net.
